WHAT you missed IF you missed our Technology Update

Everyone’s busy. We know that. So when we schedule our Carolinas Net Care Technology Updates, we know everyone will not be able to come.

All the same, we want to keep our clients updated!

On October 27, about twenty-five CNC clients were greeted by several from our team with hot coffee and tasty pastries. Then we got down to business.

We kicked off the morning  with a presentation by Smith Law Firm on the HR Side of Business. For all who had ever been asked, “Can I use my company computer for that?” it proved to be an informative session, reviewing confidentiality, non-compete, industry specific, social media and telecommuting  policies and issues.

Afterward, during From the Help Desk, we reviewed administrative rights—which turns out to be a sticky issue for many of our clients. Offering three solid solutions, Bill Wade also made a point to identify things to do and not to do when it comes to technical and security considerations.

Product Updates (something we offer during these events in order to make sure clients are in-the-know) were presented by Fred Longietti. Attendees learned about the latest enhancements from suppliers such as Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Fortinet, Fortivoice and others.

The Foxit Reader, for example, is a free program installed on each Carolinas Net Care machine. Will Grier reviewed the advantages of Foxit over Adobe Acrobat while attendees enjoyed a catered box lunch.

The last two session of the afternoon featured Greg Aker with They Broke the Internet, a discussion of hackers and what to do to stop them. Lee Eskridge closed the day on Remote Access Considerations, along with a reminder that Carolinas Net Care will consult with you on what is best for your network as a part of our management agreements.

So IF you missed it, DON’T miss the next one. Stay tuned for dates. It’s time you’ll put down as well spent.
